feeling hopeful about doing some literature reviews for the channel -- "review" more in the sense of analysis than scoring -- so I think this month's patron vid will be Little Women before I do anything spicy

have come up with several potential future media essay topics this month:

-Flight of the Dragons
-Young Sheldon
-The Brothers Lionheart
-The Lay of Leithian

all for another time I suppose

rewriting the blade video is also quite the project since I want to update my essay "voice" to better fit my channel "voice." if I ever publish this stuff in writing I'll probably have to edit through it again but that's fine.

been enjoying coming up with lots of video essay ideas. a few that have come to me in a week: why strange magic failed, disagreeing with big joel about avatar, skyrim challenge runs for the gaming channel, justpearlythings response about divorce

I don't understand needing comedy to be morally didactic. It feels like that's everything these days, and half the people who get upset at media or jokes with a certain morality just wish it had their preferred morality instead

finished with the iilluminaughtii response. working on re-doing the Blade video and writing out the responses to Big Joel and JustPearlyThings now. next month should be fun.

with that said I do want these to be at least somewhat unique so the stuff I'm trying I already know will mostly not work

I know people don't come to me for gaming content, if they come to me for anything at all, but I want to try some different stuff while I'm in this weird period

Right after defending my dissertation, I had another peer reviewed article published today: "'We're Pro-Choice and We Riot!': Anarcha-Feminism in Love and Rage (1989-98)" in a new special issue of the open access journal Coils of the Serpent. coilsoftheserpent.org/2023/06/

"Anarcha-feminists in Love and Rage (1989-98), the foremost revolutionary anarchist organization of the late twentieth century United States, made significant interventions into both the anarchist and feminist movements. This new generation of anarcha-feminists theorized and practiced intersectional revolutionary politics in their struggle against patriarchy, capitalism, the state, and white supremacy.

In this article, I first address anarcha-feminist struggles against male dominance within Love and Rage before turning to their contributions to the fight for reproductive freedom, queer and trans liberation, AIDS activism, and the fight against workfare at the City University of New York.

Unlike liberal feminists who sought legal reforms and formal social equality, anarcha-feminists fought to strengthen women’s autonomy and self-determination through grassroots organizing. Although their contributions are often overlooked, I ultimately argue that anarcha-feminists in Love and Rage were central to the evolution and revitalization of both feminism and anarchism and shaped the development of revolutionary intersectional politics in the late twentieth century and beyond."
