new plan: thinking of making every video essay that goes live in july a kind of response video, to grab people's attention. then slowly over the next couple months covering more stuff as topics independent of commenting on other youtuber's videos. I've already got some responses lined up so I think it'll work nicely.
New patron video is up! It's a very short essay about Little Women.
I've also already decided that next month's patron essay and possibly the following month's as well will be discussing even more women's literature, some american and some british.
I'm thinking it has to be the justpearlythings response, the next noah smith response or the black aragorn video, but all three will take some research, so we'll see as it all unfolds.
with that said I do want these to be at least somewhat unique so the stuff I'm trying I already know will mostly not work
I know people don't come to me for gaming content, if they come to me for anything at all, but I want to try some different stuff while I'm in this weird period
Right after defending my dissertation, I had another peer reviewed article published today: "'We're Pro-Choice and We Riot!': Anarcha-Feminism in Love and Rage (1989-98)" in a new special issue of the open access journal Coils of the Serpent. https://coilsoftheserpent.org/2023/06/were-pro-choice-and-we-riot/
"Anarcha-feminists in Love and Rage (1989-98), the foremost revolutionary anarchist organization of the late twentieth century United States, made significant interventions into both the anarchist and feminist movements. This new generation of anarcha-feminists theorized and practiced intersectional revolutionary politics in their struggle against patriarchy, capitalism, the state, and white supremacy.
In this article, I first address anarcha-feminist struggles against male dominance within Love and Rage before turning to their contributions to the fight for reproductive freedom, queer and trans liberation, AIDS activism, and the fight against workfare at the City University of New York.
Unlike liberal feminists who sought legal reforms and formal social equality, anarcha-feminists fought to strengthen women’s autonomy and self-determination through grassroots organizing. Although their contributions are often overlooked, I ultimately argue that anarcha-feminists in Love and Rage were central to the evolution and revitalization of both feminism and anarchism and shaped the development of revolutionary intersectional politics in the late twentieth century and beyond."
