Modern videogame graphics are too noisy and dense. They sacrifice artistic decisiveness and readability for realism, and honestly it's starting to get overboard.
It's a huge waste of artists time and resources to be making all these obtusely dense virtual spaces, with a million tiny details that are meaningless to gameplay, or even interfere with it.
we don't *need* a hundred different plant models, wind moving grasses, and volumetric light shafts to tell us that "we're in a forest".
I think detail and realism can be done fine and add a lot to some types of games, especially slower paced narrative focused ones, but action games need to cool it with the GPU cycles.
It's a game to play, it's not supposed to be reality, it's a virtual toy space.
Its also BORING AS FUCK!!!!!!
STYLE? VISION? PASSION?
FUCK IT, RECREATE REALITY.
ugly noisy mess.
