Not-so-fun fact: the first chainsaw, a handcranked device, was invented by an obstetrician to make performing symphysiotomies easier.

A symphysiotomy was the practice of cutting open pelvic cartilage to widen the birth canal.

Lumberjacks were grateful, but their wives sure weren't.
