ZiaNitori boosted

@ZiaNitori we just gotta uhhhhhhhhhh make nuclear plants, never mind they take like a decade to become operational and cost a lot of material (cost both the number of materials as well as the financials of it) for a resource that has to be mine (and dont' worry, it will be 100% unethically sourced)

Solar panels and wind are bad because uhhh birds I dont give a shit about but I will pretend I do die sometimes, but also let's build skyscrapers

went to a cool community run workshop on solar panels the other day in a different part of cali when phoenix was up and i asked good questions so i got a cool portable solar charging thing. it was mostly stuff i already knew but getting clarification on some electrical stuff i forgot about from nuke school was nice. one of the guys there ended up making the point that "there's no such thing as alternative energy" and started talking about how the energy that goes into making panels and other stuff exceeds the energy you get out of them and talked about the other environmental effects from the extraction involved and it's so fucked up that i can like count on one hand the number of twitter communists whose egos allow them to comprehend that really basic fact because most of them are just authoritarian technocrats

it's really clear that the person who's writing the paladin *tanking* guide doesnt understand what threat is and values damage over threat so they can maximize their personal parse at the detriment of their entire raid groups. really hope that in classic plus the devs make it entirely impossible for this kind of person to exist, threat should be a real mechanic that everyone has to pay attention to, not just the people at the highest end. how the tank decides to gear and whether they prioritize threat over mitigation should significantly change how a raid feels and there shouldnt be a single tank that thinks about how much dps they're doing because that makes no fucking sense

worshiping martyrdom is deranged death cult(derogatory) behavior, why would you lament the lack of it?

the pile of pine needles we moved into the compost on top of all the woody material was already partially decomposing so we basically turned an already existing compost pile on top of the compost pile we're trying to start, this should get things started a lot faster and we havent even got the big mass of green material and cow manure in there yet, very exciting

moving brush out from the field to the compost makes it pretty clear i'm going to have a lot more woody material than the compost will be able to break down which is good because i want to make a lot of brush piles for habitat but it kinda messes with how i pictured things would go in terms of what order i'm doing different things in. i want to make sure all of that stuff can get covered in manure and greener stuff so it can be broken down better and i wasnt planning on getting that stuff up until i got more brambles up which while they start green they get woody quite quick if left uncovered. might have to jump back and forth between working on the lawn and clearing out brambles and then save the manure and clearing out a path through an overgrown area for last

cant wait for phoenix to get here so he can help me think of a ton more projects i can overwhelm myself with lmao

i should have all the grapes in the pasture watered by tomorrow morning and i would've liked to get the set of grapes i threw in the garden covered better with another layer of soil but they've at least been getting watered consistently. still have the jar of mostly seeds that i need to get cleaned off in the fridge chilling in there to do some cold stratification stuff and i'll try to get them started in mason jars or something in like 3 months and then plant whatever comes up when it gets warm out. still need to figure out how to get the irrigation lines for the existing vines working before the water goes off for the season. got the weedwhacker working with some blades on it instead of the normal line to help buzz down some overgrown areas for more composting material, will be nice to help access to the grapes and growing area behind the pond and for some of the nastier sections of brambles. also wanna get the lawn mower going to take down a few overgrow areas so i can rake them up for a lot of green material
