I feel no patriotism for America as a political entity or experiment, but the land itself? The nature? The words and history of those who came before this failed experiment had a white name? I adore and respect them. I want to hear their stories and see as much as I can beyond the veil of corporate and state ownership and commoditization as those before. I am thankful every day for the glimpses I have gotten and hope I can see more before my time is up.

My only hope is that, someday, that veil can be ripped away and, without it, the land restored to the grander meaning that has been stolen from it.
This is the only way I can express my desire to become a cross-country nomad for even just a week. It feels like this.
@lydiaposting I feel this way about Michigan a lot. It's a hellhole but, beyond that is beautiful land, lakes and skies that I can't get enough of. The upper parts of the state are some of the most beautiful parts of the entire country IMO
@Cheezebell nah, you gotta go out west. it's otherworldly and you really understand why places like the black hills or the cascade mountains were places of worship for thousands of years if you can look at it past the commodified dumbfuckery
@Cheezebell the single worst thing about visiting the black hills in south dakota is how you can go through these amazing landscapes and see all of this wonderful nature and then have it be interrupted by white ass, theme park ass towns with American consumption era diners and drives and gift shops and monuments to white supremacy built by petulant fascist assholes.
@lydiaposting Real. Have you been to NH? Massive parts of that state are absolutely beautiful beyond words. Mount Monadnock is so fucking gorgeous
@Cheezebell Not NH but I've been to other parts of Appalachia, it's quite pretty. Definitely the best scenes you can see out east.

@lydiaposting @Cheezebell I’m currently fixing up my car and getting the necessary equipment so I can go nomad also… we should team up in some way!

Follow

@lydiaposting @Cheezebell yeah it’s an SUV and I can fit my mattress in the back so I’m gonna live a shitty version of van life where I bum showers off of all my friends across the cuntry
