Reading this trot mag and there's a part on degrowth critiquing other trots, and it's the most disingenuous shit. They say their opposition want a "capitalist degrowth" while saying in the same paragraph that the opposition called for a planned economic degrowth, which under the persons definition, writing this, that is socialism not capitalism!!! They literally contradicted themselves!!!

Which is it trot? "The opposition calls for capitalism" or "the opposition calls for socialism"

Oml, they're quoting the other side, and the quote literally says degrowth is only possible when the capitalist class is gone. Actually embarrassing. A waste of print.

Their counterargument against the pro degrowthers saying we must expand the definition of working class to youth is "but there is ruling class youth"

The next part is titled "degrowth's lack of appeal" lmao i can see the great minds behind this, like great snakes, lose a fang and then retreat. Critique fell flat so now, the trotskyists, are going to explain optics to us. Amusing.

The whole issue with this part is the word "degrowth" but then they quote the degrowthers in saying "70% 'agree with the statement that 'environment protection is more important than growth'." To then say, and this is the funny bit, that this is misleading because the degrowthers want to use degrowth as a slogan as opposed to what the statistic said! This is nothing to do with the goals of degrowthers, but the words they use! Furthermore, in fact, the appeal of the ideas around degrowth is proven high by the writer himself and contradicts the title!

The title then should be "massive support for environment orientated means and ends, and a lack of support for capitalist growth and destruction of the world"

In the next part, they go on to say that degrowth does not *stem* from "todays consciousness of wide sections of the working class"

They literally have proven this wrong in the last part. Sad!

After going on a weird explanation of how the workers state will have to defend itself, and that's why we won't deal with anything to reduce climate change, they then say "planned degrowth will no more be on the cards than the instant abolishment of wage labour or immediate disarmament" lol

It's also extremely ironic to hear a trot saying socialism will start in one country and not expand unless the workers' state expands it. Suddenly socialism recognises borders!!!
