i dont understand people who dont care to understand the signals animals produce/deploy/etc

@cvestick completely agree, but most people take that to mean something about our uniqueness for using words; too many put too much stock in the meaning of words and not the collection of contexts and behaviors that actually allow us to understand others.

I work on a farm with someone who treat the cows like utter dogshit, but will apologise profusely if they as much as spook one of the stray cats down there.
Ive found that most of the time with people its not that they dont recognise the cows are hurt or grieving or angry, its just that they dont care. Dont know if thats worse.

way too many ppl out there thinking cats dont need love and attention just because they arent as overt about it in most cases. Well.
They are actually if u take time to learn their body language but since it isnt as straightforward as with dogs, cats are considered to be cold and cruel and problematic.
@exiliaex It always makes me deeply sad. Why you wouldn't want to respect an animal by trying to understanding it is beyond me.
@exiliaex ive had a lot of animals through my life and i can honestly say that dogs show as much of a range of expressions as humans
@exiliaex Adopting a dog has made me extremely aware of how sentient they are and also I did nothing to raise our family dogs when I was growing up yet thought I did.
