pre-settler indigenous maps are interesting, but far too often they make it appear as if the various tribes had like territorial conceptions of governing and borders and other statist conceptions
@exiliaex I find this to be a difficulty of the deployment of the language of the "nation" in "first nations" rhetoric; it brings a lot of baggage on all sides about what that actually means in politics
