@exiliaex afaict they are pretty safe (much safer than discord, but that's a low bar), the thing people don't like is that they have contracts to sell commercial versions of their software to cops

well, okay, that makes me feel a lot better about them than i did when i thought they were selling users logs
@exiliaex they sell "encrypted messaging", meaning a messaging platform, not "encrypted messages"
(not trying to defend them, i think that's not good and they're making a bunch of bad governance decisions, but i haven't seen any evidence that matrix is insecure)
