Del Toro’s Pinocchio was really beautifully animated and well written. I didn’t love most of the musical numbers, but they didn’t detract from the experience. The stop motion was top notch for the whole movie except one single scene and the voice casting was spot on.
Not as hard-hitting politically as other Del Toro films, but that’s to be expected from a children’s story like this.
@DemonMama Del Toro’s Pinocchio is the best Pinocchio movie I’ve ever seen. The ending made me cry. I’m glad he wasn’t afraid to show how Mussolini’s fascist ruling effected peoples’ lives. It’s important that kids learn about history in media and not just school. I hope he makes more animated films in the future.
@DemonMama i was getting a lot of Jojo Rabbit in the political messaging parts. just like super heavy handed messaging about the self-destructive tendencies of fascism
