i think a historical outline of how universities became universities would be interesting. someone must've done that already, yeah?

same thing with modern churches, i'd love to see a history of how they became churches.

i've been doing research on what i'm calling the Conservative Institutional Empire; trying to track smaller names and groups as they morph. changing from name to name. using "credentials" from bullshit titles invented by friends or friends of friends or whatever and it's making me wanna find more comprehensive histories

the big group im trying to look into is where pastors, priests and the like overlap with educational institutions, homeschooling advocacy, and other reactionary political advocacy groups like TPUSA

@exiliaex it’s interesting to look into how these figures function depending on whether the denomination is part of a majority or institutionalized group.

@exiliaex you know funnily enough the churches themselves largely do this pretty well. There’s even a Baptist guy on YouTube called Ready To Harvest that’s going through all the denominations major and minor in a really accessible way. I mean there isn’t *too* much of a critical lens which I think is what’s missing but it’s pretty fun
