it's cool to see twitter breaking a major function of cross-platform info sharing by killing off-site embeds in exactly the same way google did by killing reader, the same way apple did by killing flash
the enemy of all infrastructural stability online is the corporation's irrational hunger for profit at all costs. just because the head of today's dragon is a fucking court jester doesn't change the fact that this will only keep happening as long as the web is a playground for venture capital

My greatest advice to those concerned: Start archiving. If you come across something you believe is valuable: make a copy.
If you follow a guide on how to install and configure software and you found it helpful: make a copy.
If you come across a video you really enjoy and find yourself coming back to again and again: make a copy.
If it means anything to you: make a copy, or you'll wish you did.

@eris explicit "official" federation would be cool. like "disqordia and anarch.cc are joining together as The Discordant Anarchists Federation" but still remaining autonomous entities and then you could have access to that joined timeline as its own thing, separate from the broader "federated timeline"

@eris mostly, yes. there's overlap here and there. but nothing grants access to everything.
@eris i make my passwords a mixture of 2-4 random words with random letters exchanged for random special characters and capitalization as needed
its certainly not the most complex and secure thing in the world but if anyone with the ability to decrypt my password wants anything of mine they probably have means greater than decryption and i'm in way bigger shit than a password would protect
