i'd like to see some non-enclosed critters, but, it's still nice to see people trying their hardest to help the critters that come under their care.
BIG VIDEO TODAY! My newest video essay is live, and this time we're talking about the Wolfenstein video games as a meditation on fascism and society.
Please check it out, it would mean a lot to me!
People are criticizing Eli Erlick for openly distributing hormones and puberty blockers to minors, even if they support what she does, because you're supposed to keep that kind of thing a secret. On the contrary: openly breaking bad laws in order to help other people is one of the best ways to force the state onto the defensive and it constitutes a form of propaganda. Marijuana legalization activists proudly smoke in public, abortion rights activists in places where it's criminalized will proudly boast of distributing misoprostol. Kill the cop inside your head who says you should keep something secret when you're not doing anything wrong
If you have any interest in neofascist movements or the dark underbelly of industrial music but ESPECIALLY the links between the two, I cannot recommend this book by @spencersunshine highly enough
I had the privilege of reading an early draft of it, and the sheer amount of information it contains is staggering, and you won't find any of it anywhere else
And so many bands that have spent decades playing the ARE WE NAZIS OR JUST PROVOCATEURS game collapse under Spencer's research
though, i do feel that's a bit undercut by the fact that it uses a lot of real world politics surrounding israel - but without the heavier parts of that baggage.
@julieofthespirits just curious - which jules gill-peterson book are you referring to here?
i don't have a phone rn, so i didn't take any pictures of it, but i'll try to share some my partners took soon.
Folx frequently ask me about security culture, both technical and social, so here's a reading list (in maybe the order you should read them). There's some overlap and contradictions between the zines, but that's not a bad thing. No one is completely right (not even me), and with something as likely to have serious consequences as security errors, always get at least 2 opinions.
First up is "Confidence, Connection, Courage, Trust." It's the best zine out there for finding a starting point for developing a security culture. It discusses how to create security culture without becoming paralyzed by paranoid.

"Use Signal, Use Tor" were slogans for a while, and while that slogan's use dropped off, Signal is still the go-to messenger for radicals. However, it's not a silver bullet. "Signals Fails" discusses how to use it correctly and common mistakes.
