I believe most of you when you say you’re dedicated to anti-rape politics but I can name like a dozen trans women who have been pushed out of leftist spaces for being rapists but not a single cis woman. Do you all really believe trans women rape that much more than cis women? Isn’t there something we need to address here?

Anyways I’m not super popular and I’m considered a know-it-all but being right is more important than being liked.

@leftistlegume do you really think the NYT recruits working class journalists? Not the sons and daughters of well-connected socialite families who can get their kids into Yale? The culture there will reflect that regardless of how much control the journalists have over editing and which stories to publish. That’s why they recruit from the elite in the first place.

mods have real power, though. Their power doesn’t come just from visibility, but from the structure of the platform. In fact, a lack of visibility could easily lead to abuse of mod powers. How are people supposed to know if a mod is targeting certain people if they don’t even know who the mods are? Authority should come with scrutiny and you cannot scrutinize the invisible.
